Digging Through The 80's. No 3

"The Safety Dance" was a popular single by the 1980s Canadian New Wave band Men Without Hats and to date, it remains their biggest hit.
It appeared on the band's first full-length album, Rhythm of Youth (1982).
The song was written by Ivan Doroschuk after he had been kicked out of a club for pogoing(!)
Can you imagine that?

A Prince from the 70's

Prince could have been a great disco artist but the new wave of the 80's pop established him as the Prince we all  know.

"I Wanna Be Your Lover" is a song from his second album Prince, released in 1979.
It was his first successful single, gaining radio airplay and chart success: the song scored two weeks at number one on the R&B singles chart during December 1979, and peaked at number eleven on the Billboard Hot 100.
Prince wrote it and produced it.

Nice job mr lovah

Thank you Burt

Behind many well known tunes you will find this man:
"Burt Bacharach".
He is one of the greatest composers ever lived and he is dressing our life's soundtrack for 6(!) decades now.

His compositions are countless.
Anyone Who Had a Heart
I Say a Little Prayer
The Look of Love
Don't Make Me Over
Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head

Walk On By

And so many, many, many, many more!

He is just unbelievable!

I would like to make two posts for this gentleman, two of my favorites:

1. A House Is Not A Home

2. Wives & Lovers

A Groovy Queen

Queen never was "a favorite group" of mine BUT this track is a special one.
It came up to the surface from a Greek movie of the 80's
Its 1982 and disco spirit is still alive.
Freddie Mercury caught that spirit and exported it on his keyboard.
What he managed to do was to create the baseline of "Staying Power".
